Velflex is a small family business located in Albury/Wodonga that supplies heat transfer vinyl to the garment and promotion industries, but that's not where our story began.
It all started back in 2006 in a garage of a small Sydney business centre's underground carpark. It was a tough environment to work in, Ben swept the floors daily to stop a build up of carbon forming from the car fumes, not to mention that it was probably a massive health risk. But when you are starting out, these things seem insignificant.
What was more concerning at the time was the 2007 Financial Crisis. Well established business in the industry were feeling the effect of the economic downturn, but as they say, ignorance is bliss, and not knowing any different, Ben, who was pretty much a one man band in those days, kept on trading and providing the best service he could. Not only did Velflex survive the crisis, it picked up momentum and market share.
With family support, innovative products and a can-do attitude, Velflex, quickly outgrew it's humble beginnings and set its sights on moving above ground and changing the heat transfer industry for the better.
10 years on, Veflex has outgrown three buildings and divided itself into two sister companies with over 16 staff. Velflex, which still wholesales heat transfer vinyl, and Vicon Transfers, who provides heat transfer printing services.
